How to Properly Update the FileMaker Software (UPDATED 7/20/18)

EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE IT A HABIT TO UPDATE YOUR INSPECTION SOFTWARE AT LEAST EVERY TWO WEEKS!!

It is important to update the inspection software on your phone on a regular basis so you can get the most up-to-date inspection software and comments. We are constantly making changes and updates, so in order to have the most recent information you need to manually go into FileMaker and perform the update. It is recommended to do this on a weekly basis, usually Sunday night or Monday morning before your first inspection would be the best time to do this update. It should only take a couple of minutes and it’s best if you are on WiFi or have a good phone signal. Please follow the steps below to update your inspection software.

STEP 1:

Once you log into FileMaker it will take you to the home screen. You will want to click on the “Utilities” tab and than click on the green “Update” button. See the screenshots below.

STEP 2:

Next you will hit the “Update Files” button and it will start the update process. During the update you will see a spinning wheel and it will ask you to type in your log-in credentials. After it goes through this process it will take you to the home screen and the update process is now complete.

IMPORTANT
Confirm All Reports Have Been Processed Before Update
When you perform an update it will completely clear all of the inspections off your phone, so it is very important to make sure that all of your inspections have been uploaded properly and sent out to the clients and agents. For example, if you do an inspection at 4pm on Sunday and upload your report at 8pm, you should wait to confirm with the office on Monday morning that your report uploaded properly before performing an update. If you decide to do an update Sunday night and clear that inspection off your phone, you could risk having to go back and do that inspection all over again for free if for some reason it didn’t upload properly to the office. The last thing you want is to get a call from the office asking to re-upload your report, and it’s already been cleared off your phone due to the update. It is always best to wait a day or two after your last inspection, or just call the office to make sure they have received all of your reports.
