How to Inspect the AC Label Information

When the inspector is at the exterior of the home and is inspecting the air conditioning unit it is important to take a clear picture of the label. You want to be able to read the label clearly from your picture so you can look up the year of manufacture using www.buildingcenter.org. Please review the complete procedure below.

Axium SOP Differences

Axium Requires: The inspector will check the AC Label Information in order to determine the age of the air compressor cabinet.

Tools Needed

No tools required to inspect the AC Label Information. We do use the website http://www.buildingcenter.org in order to help us determine the age of the unit.

Procedure

  • When we are inspecting the air compressor cabinet we want to try and find the AC label information. Once we find the label we want to take a very clear picture so we can easily read the serial number in the picture. If the date is not readily visible on the label we will look up the date of manufacture using the serial number. The website that we can use to look this up is http://www.buildingcenter.org. Make sure to hit your review flag on this section if you plan to look up the date later so you can come back and change the date in the section.

Common Defects

  • There are no defects for this section. We do point out if the label is missing, damaged, faded, or illegible.

Common Mistakes

  • Not using the website to look up the date of manufacture and guessing the wrong date.
  • Putting the wrong date of manufacture.
  • Not looking for the label or taking an unclear picture of the label.
  • Taking a blurry picture of the label or taking picture from too far away.
