Heating Label Information (UPDATED 7/4/18)

While the inspector is at the heating system the heating label needs to be checked so the age of the system can be determined. It is sometimes difficult to get a clear picture of the label due to its location in the heating system but being able to read the serial number from the label is important to look up the date of manufacture. Please read the complete procedure below.

Tools Needed

The inspector might need to use a flashlight in order to find and see the heating label clearly. The inspector will also use http://www.buildingcenter.org to determine the age of the heating system

Procedure

  • After the front cover of the heating system has been removed you will look inside the unit for the heating label. Once the label has been found you will take one picture of the label that clearly shows the serial number so we can determine the age of the heating system.
  • Next, we will look up that serial number on http://www.buildingcenter.org to determine the age of the heating system. If it is older than 15 years old, we will want to make that a repair/replace comment.
